The Best Kept Secret in Bloomsburg
As part of its mission to bring the arts to all communities throughout the NEPA region, The Exchange, a 501(c)3 organization, hosts a monthly Blues, Roots & Americana Listening Room in its storefront art gallery, located in beautiful downtown Bloomsburg, PA.
On the last Wednesday of most months, the art gallery is transformed into an intmate, up close and personal space (max 48 seats) for musicians to perform in, with rotating art exhibitions as the back drop. We feature a range of acts ~ solo artists and small bands, acoustic and electric ~ in an atmosphere conducive to enjoying and experiencing the music.
Our first Listening Room was on July 26, 2017, opening with Mike Miz. Since then we have been privileged to have not only local and regional artists perform, but also national and inter-national, as well as multiple Blues Music Award winners.
Since Covid, we have been making a video of each performance, which is then loaded up to The Exchange's YouTube channel.
This is a true Listening Room. We ask patrons to please refrain from engaging in conversation while the musicians are performing, unless, of course, the musicians are conversing with the audience.

Four Great Guitarists:
A Chester & Lester Inspiration
A Chester & Lester Inspiration
In May of 1975, Chet Atkins coaxed Les Paul out of his decades-long retirement to record the album Chester & Lester. Although Chet & Les had never met before, they spent two days in the studio, playing music and bantering with each other, while laying down the tracks on this Grammy Award winning album. When the album was released it had a profound musical influence on BJ.
Flash forward 48 years later, and inspired by Chet & Les, BJ conceived the idea of recreating that kind of musical-moment at The Listening Room. When he ran the idea past our friend, Kirk Yano, Kirk suggested he try it with four guitarists; "if two's good, then four will be great!" And so, the premise of Four Great Guitarists was born.
On February 22, 2023, BJ gathered together at the Listening Room four guitarists who he has worked with in the past, and who met each other for the first time at sound check. It was a magical night of GREAT music. Let's do it again!!
