Mary Knysh ♫ Music is Her Life
We met Mary Knysh in the late 1980's, when she was part of a three-piece band called Heart Like a Feather. BJ was helping the band with sound reinforcement.
We quickly realized that Mary was a special type of musician, with her ability to improvise and play a w-i-d-e range of ethnic instruments, especially drums. She's the only musician we know that travelled to Bali, Indonesia to purchase a set of Gamelan instruments direct from the factory!!
At that time Mary was the music teacher at Greenwood Friends School (GFS), where BJ and her started collaborating on building "sound sculptures", and creating musical instruments from found objects, not just for GFS, but for other schools in our region.
After leaving GFS, Mary began to spread her wings, and has since become:
Since 2018 I have been working as Mary's assistant, keeping her website updated, and developing regular e-newsletters so she can keep in touch with her many followers around the world.
In our opinion, Mary is one of the most talented musicians that we have ever had the pleasure to work with. Music is her life!
